An extraordinary journey through rolling hills and sagebrush, the Sombrero Ranch cowboys can breathe a little easier as the 2017, two day, 62-mile horse drive adventure comes to an end.
Sombrero Ranch riders lead the horse drive down the middle of Highway 40 through Maybell, Colorado. Every year in early May, horses are taken from winter grazing pasture to summer pasture. The 62 mile trip takes two days of hard riding to complete, and has taken place since the early 60’s. The sound of thundering hooves, whinnying and nickering as the horses and cowboys come into town is an exhilarating experience.
